One of the biggest complaints I get from my clients is getting the staff not just to do their work but enjoy the work at their company.
You know what I am talking about that enthusiastic, passionate waiter at a restaurant or that employee in the electronics store. Their sheer joy and presence make our day and puts a fun smile on our faces. We probably bought more than we originally planned because their happiness was so infectious and convincing.
The question is: HOW DO I GET MORE OF THOSE KINDS OF PEOPLE IN MY BUSINESS?
Fortunately for you, you can foster that in your current staff! Below are a few ways to encourage that kind of behavior in your company. I must warn you this may seem like common sense, but there is a reason why staff motivation is a top pain point. Each of these tips can be a class on its own. Remember, it isn't what you do but HOW you do it.
🗣️ Have a heart-to-heart: Take a moment to listen and let your team know how much they're valued and appreciated. Give them a chance to share their thoughts and ideas.
🌟 Give praises: We are all suckers for flattery, so don't hold back! Find creative ways to showcase your team's hard work in front of their peers.
📈 Make room for growth: Help your team level up and advance their careers. Share stories of how you've helped other employees grow and develop.
🎉 Let the good times roll: Find ways to inject fun and laughter into the workday. Happy employees make for happy customers!
👯♀️ team up for success: Create friendly team competitions that help your company grow while enhancing your team's soft skills, like teamwork.
🙏 Take care of your crew: Remember, your team members are people too! Be understanding and supportive when life happens.
🛠️ Equip them for success: Give your team the tools, resources, and training they need to succeed. Keep them up to date with periodic refresher training.
👨💼 Lead the way: Be the change you want to see in your workplace. Set the tone with your values and integrity.
🗣️💬 Give them a voice: Encourage your team to share their ideas and feedback. Share your favorite comments with the team so they know they're heard.
👸 Treat them like royalty: Give your team a chance to walk in your customer's shoes. They'll feel special and gain valuable insight into what needs to change.
👨👨👦👦 👩👩👦👦 Build a stronger team: Schedule team-building events 4-6 times a year. This will help build better relationships and a stronger team spirit.
With these strategies in place, your team will feel the love and keep crushing it at work, making your business the place to be! 💪
If any of this sounds a little too vague and you are having trouble finding effectiveness in getting your staff to be self-starters in your workplace, reach out to me, and we can strategize how to improve this for your team.
